چکیده

BackgroundTo analyze the findings of cranial ultrasonographic screening in asymptomatic neonates and to assess association between abnormal results neurodevelopment.MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed healthy born 35 42 weeks gestation at our hospital from October 2011 2018.ResultsIn total, 11,681 underwent during study period, 9666 (82.7%) had normal results. Of 2015 with findings, 294 more than two abnormalities. The most common minor were subependymal cysts (8.99%), choroid plexus (2.43%), lenticulostriate vasculopathy (2.34%), frontal horn (1.80%), enlarged cisterna magna (1.04%). Then, 33 (0.28%) major abnormalities, including cerebral hemorrhage, periventricular heterotopia, focal cortical dysplasia, anomalies corpus callosum, vascular malformation. 1334 who serial clinical evaluations, 76 (5.69%) neurodevelopmental disorders, developmental delay, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autistic spectrum disorder.ConclusionThe incidence rate intracranial was 17.3%, about 5.69% disorders. Cranial has its own value helping early detection neonates, some which have prognostic implications. To neurodevelopment. We 2018. In disorder.

Cranial ultrasonographic findings in healthy full-term neonates: a retrospective review.

BACKGROUND Ultrasonography is a non-invasive diagnostic technique, and it has been used to detect intracranial lesions in neonates for a long time. Correspondingly, screening tests using cranial ultrasonography have been applied for early detection of intracranial lesions in full-term neonates during the past decade. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the findings of cranial ultrasonographic...

Magnetic resonance imaging findings and neurodevelopmental outcomes in neonates with urea-cycle defects

The urea-cycle functions to facilitate ammonia excretion, a disruption of which results in the accumulation of toxic metabolites. The neurological outcome of neonatal-onset urea-cycle defects (UCDs) is poor, and there are no good predictors of prognosis beyond ammonia levels at presentation. The role of neuroimaging in the prognosis of neonatal-onset UCDs is unclear. We describe the magnetic re...

Ultrasonographic study of ductus venosus in healthy neonates.

AIM To assess ultrasonographically the flow pattern and the time of postnatal closure of ductus venosus related to the other fetal shunts. METHODS Fifty healthy, term neonates were studied from day 1 up to day 18 using a VingMed CFM 800A ultrasound scanner. RESULTS Ductus arteriosus was closed in 94% of the infants before day 3. Ductus venosus, however, was closed in only 12% at the same ti...

Cranial MRI screening in healthy young men.

Cranial MRI Screening in Healthy Young Men To the Editor: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) due to aneurysm bleeding is a serious disease with a high morbidity and mortality. The prevalence of intracranial aneurysms in the general population is estimated in the range of 1% to 2% and might be higher in high-risk patients, eg, patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease or in relatives...
